Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha National Park, located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, is centered around the freshwater Lake Naivasha, one of the few freshwater lakes in the region. The park is renowned for its serene beauty, with lush green surroundings and a diversity of wildlife, making it a prime spot for relaxation and exploration. The lake itself is a haven for birdwatchers, with over 400 bird species recorded, including fish eagles, kingfishers, and herons. The presence of hippos in the lake adds to the park’s charm, often seen lounging in the water or grazing on the shores.

The park’s surroundings are home to a variety of wildlife, such as giraffes, zebras, buffalos, and impalas, which can be easily spotted during nature walks or boat rides on the lake. The nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, located within the lake, allows for close-up walking safaris, providing a unique opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat without the need for vehicles. Lake Naivasha’s cool, scenic environment and its accessibility from Nairobi make it a popular weekend getaway for tourists and locals alike.
